America's Wetland Birding Trails Come to North & Central Louisiana
Based on the huge success of the America's Wetland Birding Trail along Louisiana's Great Gulf Coast, Louisiana's Lieutenant Governor is expanding to north and central Louisiana. In
an effort to further develop and promote Louisiana's eco-cultural tourism assets Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu with the help of the Louisiana Office of Tourism is developing the America's Wetland Birding Trails in
central and north Louisiana. The trails will be called the America's Wetland Red River Birding Trail and America's Wetland Mississippi River Birding Trail. These trails will include publicly and specifically identified nominated birding sites north of I-10 and bordered by the states of Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
FERMATA, Inc. has been contracted by the Louisiana Office of Tourism to assist in the development and design of the two birding
trails. Your nomination is critical to the
success of the trail. The information will be submitted to FERMATA's team of trained assessors, who will then visit and evaluate the site based on key criteria.
In addition to nominations on public lands such as parks, historic places, and wildlife management areas, etc., privately owned site nominations submitted by the site owner/ manager will also be assessed for inclusion on the trail.
